The City of Jackson held a groundbreaking ceremony on April 19 at Westwood Gardens.

As our population ages, it is important to recognize the needs of our senior citizens. A Senior Center provides a space for seniors to gather, socialize, and participate in activities that promote health and well-being. The center can offer a range of programs, such as fitness classes, educational seminars, and social events, that help seniors stay active and engaged in the community. Overall, a Senior Center is an essential component of any community that values the well-being of its senior citizens, and we are grateful to the Aging Commission and Mayor Conger for their efforts in bringing this center to Jackson.

The creation of a Senior Center in Jackson is the result of a collaborative effort between the Aging Commission and the City of Jackson. The Aging Commission visited other senior centers in the region to gather ideas and best practices, and worked tirelessly to secure funding and support for the project. The new center will be approximately 10,000 square feet and will serve as a hub for senior activities and services in our community. We are grateful for the dedication and hard work of the Aging Commission and Mayor, and we believe that the new Senior Center will have a significant impact on the quality of life for seniors in Jackson. Every member of our community deserves a place where they can feel welcomed and valued, and the Senior Center will be an important part of ensuring that all of our citizens have a voice and a space in our city.
