Captain Harris started his career with the Jackson Police Department in February of 2001 and has nineteen years of service. Captain Harris worked seven years as a patrol officer and then joined the Street Crimes Unit in 2008.

In 2010, Captain Harris transferred to the Gang Enforcement Team as an Investigator. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2015 and took over command of the Street Crimes Unit.

Captain Harris was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2017 and continued to serve as commander of the Street Crimes Unit. He also served in a collateral assignment as a reserve SWAT Team Officer for fourteen years.

Captain Harris served in the Tennessee Army National Guard for six years as a Military Policeman with the 268th MP Company from 2000 to 2006.

Captain Harris completed a Bachelor’s Degree in University Studies from U.T. Martin in 2006.

Captain Harris has been married to his wife for 14 years and has a 12 year old son.
