Requirements for Firefighter Applicants
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:
High School Diploma; must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid drivers license; have vision corrected to 20/20, and must be a citizen of the United States.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Entrance Exam (score must be at least 70)
- In-depth Background Investigation
- Physical Ability Test
- Physical Exam (must satisfactorily pass after offer of employment)
- Drug Screen (must satisfactorily pass after offer of employment)
- Treadmill Evaluation (must satisfactorily pass after offer of employment)

Lateral Entry Fire Fighters do not have to take a Written exam
MINIMUM Qualifications for Lateral Entry Firefighters: Firefighter I and Firefighter II certifications and at least 180 hours of Basic Firefighting Training through an accredited program.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS – must be filed with application:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Social Security Card
- Birth Certificate
- DD-214 (If applicable)
- Photo (Full face)
- Firefighter I and II Certificates
- Basic Firefighter Training Certificate
