Posted on 06/17/2024

JACKSON, Tenn. – Derek Marshall will serve as the new City of Jackson, TN Recycling Center Coordinator.

Marshall, a native of Jackson, TN, graduated from Jackson Central-Merry Academy of Medical Technology. Derek earned an Associate of Science in Organizational Leadership from Union University and a Bachelor of Science in Business from Capella University.

"I feel honored and privileged to be employed by the City of Jackson, my lifelong home. My top priority has always been to contribute to finding solutions,” said Marshall. “I am committed to furthering the growth of the Recycling program and increasing awareness within our community."

The mission of the Recycling Program’s mission is to educate and provide cost-effective opportunities to reduce, reuse, and recycle waste in a sustainable manner in the city of Jackson and to encourage citizens to “re-think” outside the trash.

The Jackson Recycle Center procedures and best practices are of importance as the center will be impacted by several variables including contamination, weather, absence of operators, and the ability to timely empty bins. The recommended operations schedule and procedures detailed here will help keep the recycling center efficient, effective, and environmentally safe.

"We are thrilled to have Derek on board as our new Recycling Coordinator and look forward to the work and ideas he has to further our initiative,” said Leilani Mills, Director of City of Jackson, TN’s Health and Sanitation Department.
