Jackson, Tenn. – The City is proud to announce the 4th Annual Children’s Day celebration, taking place on April 24th at 4:00 PM at City Hall. This annual tradition honors the creativity, talent, and potential of the youngest members of our community.
Receiving this year’s proclamation will be Ashley Akerson representing the Dreamers and Makers afterschool program. Attendees will also have the opportunity to view a curated art exhibition inside City Hall, featuring original works created by Akerson’s students.
The celebration will feature live entertainment, showcasing the performing arts culture from youth representing our local schools and theater:
- Arlington Elementary: Students will take the stage for a special musical performance.
- The Ned R. McWherter West Tennessee Cultural Arts Center: Members of the cast from the upcoming production of Conejo will perform a preview of their play.
"Children's Day is a testament to the bright future of our city," said Mayor Scott Conger. "By showcasing student art in at City Hall and celebrating local talent, we are sending a message that every child's voice and creativity matters."
