Jackson Police Department to develop 5-Year Strategic Plan
Posted on 10/16/2024

Jackson, Tenn. – The Jackson Police Department (JPD) is set to embark on the development of a comprehensive 5-year Strategic Plan that will serve as a roadmap for the department’s priorities and initiatives from 2025 to 2029. The plan will guide decision-making, set measurable goals, and allow for progress tracking over the next 5 years.

The creation of the plan will begin with a thorough SWOT analysis – an assessment of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. This process will involve input from all JPD members, as well as employees from other City of Jackson, TN departments, as well as the public at-large. Gathering diverse perspectives will ensure that the plan reflects both internal insights and external community needs.

As part of the initial phase, an anonymous electronic survey will be available to the public by selecting the “5-Year Strategic Plan Survey” button on our website (police.jacksontn.gov). The community’s feedback will be critical in offering a well-rounded view of the opportunities available to improve services and any challenges that could hinder progress.

Following the survey, a committee of stakeholders will be assembled to review the results and recommend key initiatives for JPD to pursue over the next five years. Subcommittees will then be formed to develop measurable goals and objectives for each initiative. Volunteers from the department will be invited to participate in these subcommittees, with updates and opportunities for input provided to JPD employees throughout the process.

Once finalized, the Command Staff of JPD will review and approve the proposed Strategic Plan before it is published and shared with both department employees and the public.
